We went out to dinner with Shanghai Moons and had some very hot, but good food. Notice all the red chilies in many of the dishes!

These pictures are not too good, but it's all I have. This is the dancer from the "Face Change" show. Super cool!! Watch the short video at the end. I have a much longer one, but too big to upload.

Here's the video. This is really cool and much, much better in person. He keeps changing his mask, but you never see him do it. He came out in the audience later & did it much closer. Wow, I don't know how he does it!!

Tomorrow we travel to Changzhou to visit some other suppliers. Stop back in the next day or 2 for some more stuff :-)

Day 4

Some rest and a little sightseeing before we begin our Supplier Visits.

overcast 20 °C

Sunday night we took a walk in Zhongshen Park.

Singing_in..an_Park.jpg

It was very cool! We saw some impromptu singing of old style Chinese folk songs.

Monday morning we went to the Old Town section of Shanghai. A look into what Shanghai looked like hundreds of years ago. Extremely cool buildings! It's a big tourist trap and you need to watch your wallet here for sure!!

Tea_House.jpg

Here is where we bought some tea and of course we had to try some first. Too bad I didn't get a good angle of Wan Loong and Albert. Maybe next time ...haha.

Monday afternoon we when for a short bus trip to Zhou Zhuang
(water village). It was a little like Venice or so they say. Judge for yourself.

There were a ton of shops and many of the artists were actually sitting there making all these crafts. We were part of a bus tour and not allowed to stop. I did anyways to buy something for Jill.

These 2 shops sold many different things. We were moving too fast to even stop for a few seconds.

This shop was making Chinese candy. Not what we think of candy at all, but it was pretty good.

This was an old school room in a very famous house from the Ming Dynasty. Sorry all I know was built in the 1400's and had over 70 rooms. I forgot the actual name.

Here a short video of part of a Kunqu Opera. It was really cool!!

This place is famous for pork knuckles! Who would think! We were warned to avoid them and we did. Here's a photo so you can see for yourself ... yummy!!

This was my dinner Monday night ... pretty normal. Things will get pretty interesting later this week. You will see if you stop back in a few days.

Almost forgot to mention, Fred was too tired today and just stayed in bed. He promised that he will come with us tomorrow. Who knows, guess we will find out tomorrow!

Tomorrow the real work begins ... off to our first supplier visit!

Day 3

Arrive in Shanghai

overcast 15 °C

Hurray, after over 30 hours of travel time we finally checked into our Hotel in downtown Shanghai. You will not see an entry for Day 2 since it was lost somewhere over the Pacific Ocean.

I did find a stowaway in my luggage.

My daughter Jill's dinosaur .... his name is Fred & he hitched a ride.

Here he is in Incheon, South Korea International Airport

I think were going to see more of him later this trip.

Day 1 - Departure Day

rain 10 °C

Today we leave on our annual business trip to China.

This is not a photo taken by me, but it's a great photo of exactly where we are going.
The Shanghai skyline at night.
Shanghai.jpg

There are 5 of us traveling in the trip this year (3 from USA, 1 from Singapore, 1 from Germany) and we are focused completely on visiting our critical suppliers in the Shanghai area. We have a little free time in this trip that was mostly by accident from schedule conflicts and flight availability, but we intend to fully make the best of it and see some very cool things we normally would not have time for. Well need to go and finish getting everything ready.
